FEELINGS

Now King My Way notices the dilemma of Farmer Focus and thinks to himself. I can use this Wrong Focus in my conquest to win Castle Glade over to my rule. I shall put him in charge of the Spotlight. For whoever is in charge of the Spotlight will determine the Attitude, Disposition and Appearance of the castle. However if I put him in charge of the Spotlight and were to desire him to shine the light in a designated area, by his very nature he would shine the light in its opposing position therefore defeating my purposes. So I must discover someone who I may appoint as an Advisor to Wrong Focus. This Advisor must be strong and persuasive enough to be able, not only to influence Wrong Focus but also anyone else in the castle that might oppose him. But who could that be?

As King My Way ponders his dilemma the ground begins to quake, then shake, then crack before his feet and up through a fissure, elevated from the fires below, stands before King My Way a tall handsome powerful character.

“O Lowly King, Your wife Insecurity has summoned me to meet the challenge of your interesting predicament.”

Now King My Way’s wife Insecurity had taken the form of the very soil of the Land of Uncertainty, making it unstable and subject to many earthquakes. This had occurred many years before when King My Way had first usurped the land from its Ancient King and Creator, who some say had abandoned the land and left it for anyone who was fool hearty enough to desire it. I say SOME say, because it is not clear whether it was the truth or some lie that King My Way had fabricated to disguise his insurrection.

“And what might your name be?” the king asks.

“My name is Feelings Your Lowness”, He declares. “I am a kin to Thought. We are very closely related but if we stood beside one another you would be able to distinguish the difference between us.”

“Where is your abode?” The king asks.

“I dwell just below the surface of Castle Glade.” Feelings answers.

“And what qualifications can you present to me that will assure me that you will be able to ‘meet the challenge’ of MY predicament?” the king inquires.

“Well, O Wretched One,” Feelings ponders, “I can perceive by touch. I have physical sensation not connected with sight, hearing, taste or smell. I have a great capacity for emotions. My general state of consciousness is considered independent of thought. However, given enough exposure to my inner beauty I can become very, very addictive. There have been many that I have influenced who have gone violently against what they know to be right when I have desired it to be so. I have great sensitivities. I have great sensibilities. I have many opinions and sentiments. I am capable of having premonitions. I am capable of having intuitions. I can have impressions. I can have expressions. I can touch the senses of the outer man or the inner man. I know no boundaries. No wall can keep me out. No fence can keep me in. My touch can be as soft as a delicate flower brushing against a baby’s face or it can be as sharp and burning as a heart attack. I can make you sweat. I can make you shiver. I can make you laugh. I can make you cry. I can make you jump out of your seat with joy or I can make you jump out of your skin with fear”. Feelings stops abruptly and smiles.

As Feelings speaks King My Way is overcome with the sense of his presence. A flood of emotion fills his being as the powerful influence of Feelings stands before him. Who can deny anything that Feelings requests? Who can resist him? Not even the king.

you serve ME faithfully, without question to your loyalty. You will be second in authority only to ME.”

King My Way steps up to Feelings and embraces him. As he does Feelings begins to tighten up at the sound of movement in the underbrush just behind him. King My Way senses that Feelings is tense about something he hears. He turns and as he does a snakes slithers out of the tall grass onto the rocky road and transforms into Hardly Noticeable.

King My Ways smiles at Feelings, “My chief spy.”

The king walks over to Hardly Noticeable and greets him in a kingly manner. “What have you discovered?”

Hardly Noticeable bows and gives his report.

“O Great Lord of the Darkness, first of all I have discovered that the castle has four strategic walls. The north wall is called the Wall of Self Confidence. The east wall is called the wall of Self Assurance. The south wall is called the Wall of Self Reliance and the west wall is called the Wall of Self Esteem. The walls are wide enough for two chariots to ride abreast, on which Naïve and Gullible ride sentry. Both sides of the wall are made of brick and mortar and the center is filled with the debris of past experience. The brick is called Self Protection and the mortar is called Self Preservation. I have discovered a pocket of voids along the foundation of Personal Worth in the Wall of Self Esteem.”

King My Way voices concern, “Can we expect any form of resistance.”

Hardly Noticeable doesn’t blink an eye, “I see no threat of resistance O Defiant One.”

So King My Way commands Hardly Noticeable to order Intimidator, Dominator and Overbearing to hurl missiles of Abuse at the Wall of Self Esteem. The attack blows a huge gaping hole in the wall into which Naïve and Gullible fall and are killed instantly. Innocence is also lost during the encounter. All the while the assault lasts Insecurity quakes. As the earthquake shakes, the foundations of the wall crack. From out of the ground, up through the cracks King My Way’s forces enter Castle Glade.

King My Way sends orders for Failure to build his house at the site of its destruction. He further commands him to build it out of the rubble of the Wall of Self Esteem. This way the wall will be fortified to suit the purposes of King My Way. There Failure lives with his wife Defeat and their children Despair, Discouraged, Hopeless, Quit, Give Up and Run Away
